Know What Makes This Year’s Republic Day Procession Very Special

Due to the rise of Omicron instances not only in India but around the world, it is unclear whether the foreign main guests will attend the Republic Day celebrations.

Special Guests will be the Civil Society.

Look up in the sky this year to see 75 military aircraft, 1000 drones, and 600 specially selected performers, as part of the Republic Day celebrations in 2022 at Rajpath, which will include a tableau of 12 states and Union Territories, as well as nine ministries.

Will there be any International Chief Guests?

Because of the Omicron variant cases that have been reported not only in India but around the world, it is unclear whether the foreign top guests will attend the Republic Day celebrations on Rajpath.

In 2021, was there a Special Guest?

No. The chief visitor was scheduled to be British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. He was unable to attend due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in his nation.

India has had no foreign top guests for the Republic Day Parade three times in the past. It happened in 1952, 1953, and 1966, respectively.

Lal Bahadur Shastri, India’s former Prime Minister, died on January 11, 1966. The new Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, was sworn in just a few days before Republic Day.

An Initiative that is Environmentally Friendly

Seeds of medicinal herbs like Ashwagandha, Aloe Vera, and Amla will be included in the Republic Day, Beating the Retreat invitation. Later planting, whether in gardens or flower pots, is encouraged.

During the Beating the Retreat, IIT-Delhi will display 1,000 drones for the first time in an effort to encourage start-ups. Drone displays have been held in the United Kingdom, Russia, and China.

The administration has determined that Republic Day celebrations would begin on January 23 rather than January 24, and will end on January 30.

The number of visitors will be limited as well. In comparison to the 25,000 visits in 2021, the numbers could be in the range of 5000-8000.

Guests of Honour

Civil society members such as sanitation workers, construction workers, auto-rickshaw drivers, and others have been invited. They must also be completely immunised.

At Rajpath, over 600 young artists will perform. They were chosen through the ‘Vande Bharatam‘ national competition. 

The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Culture collaborated to put this together. The goal was to ensure that people from all throughout the country could participate.

New Delhi has Banned some Activities ahead of the RD Parade

Until February, paramotoring, remote aircraft, quadcopters, hot air balloons, UAVs, and paramotoring are all available. To ensure that no unfortunate occurrences occur in the capital, an order has been issued.

According to sources, such activities would be prohibited from January 20 to February 15 for security concerns, and criminals will be charged under IPC section 188.

All police stations in the city, top police officers, the DDA, PWD, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), municipal corporations, and the Delhi Cantonment Board have received orders from the responsible authorities.

Keep an Eye Out For

In the 2022 RD Celebrations, there will be two significant changes: To commemorate Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s 125th birthday, celebrations will begin on January 23, 2022. And it will end on January 30th, Martyrs Day.

This year’s festivities will begin half an hour later than usual, at 10.30 a.m. instead of 10 a.m. Why? In order to increase visibility

The government is urging people to watch the Republic Day ceremonies in hybrid mode.

Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Gujarat, UP, Karnataka, Meghalaya, and Uttarakhand will all have tableaux.

This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will confer the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Apada Prabandhan Puraskar at India Gate in a special ceremony. This is a new award that will be granted to institutions and people for their contributions to disaster management.

Overcoming Retrenchment

There will be two new events this year. Laser projection atop the parapets of the North and South Blocks to honour the 75th anniversary of the United States’ independence.

With approximately 1000 drones, a start-up from IIT Delhi, Bot Lab Dynamics, will put on a drone exhibition.

COVID-19 has Forced the Cancellation of PM Modi’s and other Official Visits

An increase of positive COVID-19 cases forced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UAE to be postponed. The “Vibrant Gujarat” mega-event had to be cancelled.
The visit of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Vietnam has been postponed.
