WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook are apparently facing outages. May be the outages arise around the DNS servers. The Parent company Facebook has confirmed that they are working on a fix.

Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram are some of the most popular platforms owned by holding company Facebook. Facebook is down in a lot of places and doesn’t seem to be functioning on the web or even on their respective mobile applications. On Android, iOS, and web platforms, a number of people have confirmed that the instant messenger platform and social media implementations are not starting to work for them.

On October 4, DownDetector recently reported a rapid increase in the number of cases of WhatsApp not being staffed by people across territories. New messages cannot be sent or received by users.

Note that, In India, Facebook has over 410 million users, and WhatsApp Messenger has more than 530 million users, making it the government’s largest market. In India, Instagram has over 210 million monthly active users.

Similar behavior can be seen on Instagram, where users can’t log in, refresh their feed, or have sent direct messages (DMs), or on Facebook, where consumers can’t use Messenger. The problem appears to have impacted people late in the night, with the outage beginning around 9:15 p.m. IST.

At the moment of typing, the servers are still down, and Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram are temporarily offline. Users are advised to use alternative messaging apps such as Signal and Telegram until the mobile applications are restored.

It’s not the first time that apps like WhatsApp have gone down.

In June, a comparable outage knocked out important websites like Amazon, Reddit, and Twitch, while in July, software solutions like Zomato, Disney+ Hotstar, PSN, Steam, and PayTm were among those affected.

The last time WhatsApp went down was in March 2021.
