Hindi Diwas

Every year on the 14th of September, India celebrates National Hindi Diwas or Hindi Day. On the 14th of September 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi as the national language of India, and it has been celebrated ever then. It was incorporated into the Indian constitution on January 26, 1950. First observed in 1953, the National Hindi Diwas is India’s version of the Thanksgiving holiday. On September 14, Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, decided to mark Hindi Diwas.

India’s Hindi language is written in the Devanagari script and is an Indo-Aryan dialect. English, Spanish, and Mandarin are the top three languages spoken in the world. As one of India’s most widely spoken languages, Hindi is celebrated as a mother tongue by many Indians.

Hindi Diwas serves as a reminder that Hindi is our primary language here in the United States of America. Our mother tongue is Hindi, which is also our official language. It is deeply ingrained in our culture, and as a result, it defines us as individuals. Numerous events are planned to celebrate Hindi Diwas, which highlights the importance of the language.

As we celebrate Hindi Diwas, we are reminded of the importance of Hindi as a primary language in India. In addition to being our official language, Hindi is also our mother tongue. We are defined by it since it is a part of our culture. Numerous events are held to commemorate Hindi Diwas, highlighting the language’s importance to the Indian culture.

The Meaning of Hindi Diwas

As a component of our culture, the Hindi language serves as a vital link to our ancestors. Indian Independence Day serves as a method to remind the new generation of their heritage and place in the world when they are intrigued by western culture and consider English a status symbol in today’s world. As a result, there is no reason for them to stop learning or using English.

Because English is also our official language and is widely spoken around the world, it’s almost impossible to do so in reality. It is impossible to survive in the modern world if you do not know the English language. That being said, we Indians have begun to place greater emphasis on English and often devalue our home tongue, Hindi.

Observing Hindi Diwas Is Very Important

The purpose of Hindi Diwas is to celebrate the beauty of the Hindi language and to bring attention to it. It also serves as a reminder of its rich history. The importance of the Hindi language must be instilled in the minds of the next generation of learners. Hence, the majority of Indian schools and educational institutes mark this day with special events and activities. Many activities are planned to celebrate Hindi Diwas and highlight the language’s importance and richness.

There is a lot of variety in the Hindi language

Hindi is globally 4th most widely spoken language. Hindi is not only spoken in India, but also in Mauritius, Nepal, Guyana, Fiji, Suriname, and Pakistan by people of Asian descent. Many Hindi terms are mistakenly thought to be English words. Among them are karma, jungle, and guru. As a result, Hindi is able to write every sound in the universe.

In what way is it observed?

In India, Hindi Diwas is also celebrated with a lot of fervor and excitement by the people of the country, just as other festivals are. Hindi Diwas is mostly commemorated in Delhi, which hosts a number of literary events and festivals to mark this important day.
